March 21 is known as World Down Syndrome Day, because our kiddos have 3 copies of the 21st chromosome and it is 3.21~

Lots of things happen this month, along with the usual advocating and educating.
Many families do 21 acts of kindness, by dong nice things throughout the first 21 days, and I know lots that continue this throughout the whole year.
You can also wear Crazy Socks on 3.21 to show your appreciation for someone you love who has an extra chromosome.
Here’s why:

💙Socks come in all different sizes, lengths, colours and styles. Long, short, striped, spotted, plain, colourful, fluffy, toe socks, or just an old pair with a few holes!
They all look different, but despite their varying appearances, essentially their purpose is the same.
People with DS may look slightly different compared to people with the typical amount of chromosomes, but that doesn’t mean they are any less of a person.
Everyone has a purpose, just like socks!💛

By wearing odd, mismatched socks on display on the 21st, you are raising awareness. It will most likely get people around you talking and asking questions, opening an opportunity to explain you are raising awareness for DS.
Please consider getting involved, and asking your family/friends/colleagues to join in too! Why not take a pic and share it on your social media pages to increase the awareness? If you are able to, please also consider donating to your local DS charity, and if you can’t that’s fine too! Awareness is key, and really helps to eliminate stereotypes and ignorance.

So get your socks picked out! But please, no smelly ones allowed 😉
